Historic Spots

Location: On our lawns
Dotted accross the gardens of the Abbotsford convent will be three garden installations expressing the floral history of the Abbotsford Convent Site. Indigenous Australians, Nuns and Hippies will all be recognized for their input into the shaping the gardens of this site. An artwork to be picnicked by. Find out more about Joanne Mott here.

The Story Is Lost

Location: Sacred Heart Building
Lyndal will be creating five dusty images, or rather dust etchings on mirrors. These works will be dotted around sacred heart building and its courtyard. Visit at dusk and you will get the full ghostly effect in the shadows of some our spookiest buildings. Find out more about Lyndal Walker here.

Sacred Heart Laundries
Yun and Sissy are installing a photographic installation in the Sacred Heart Laundries that was shot here at the convent. Walk through the colourful exhibition examining Mexican identity while marveling at the beautifully decrepit laundry building. Find out more about Yun and Sissy here

Convent Building Courtyard

Sister Connectivia has been collecting your sins and now she will air all the dirty laundry. Anonymous sins will printed on tea towels and hung in the courtyard. Bask in other peoples guilt or look on as your sin may fade away. Find out more about about Sister Connectivia here.

Jody Cleaver

Sacred Heart Laundries
Jody will be animating the history of Conevnt, particularly between 1910- 45. Using the oral, written and recorded histories of this time, Jody will create many etchings that will become animations. Dealing with the strong connection between physical space and emotional states this artwork will show both the animation and the meticulous etchings. Find out more about Jody Cleaver here.
